The use of overnight reverse repos (RRPs) by the Federal Reserve fell further on Friday, falling to its lowest level in nearly four years. About 22 counterparties deposited $58.80 billion in RRPs on Friday, the lowest since April 2021 and $67.80 billion the previous day. The number of counterparties also hit its lowest level since May 2020.
On December 21, the Federal Reserve accepted a total of 45 counterparties in the fixed rate reverse repurchase operation of 98.356 billion dollars, the first time since April 2021 below 100 billion dollars. At the end of September 2022, the scale was as high as 2.426 trillion dollars.
