Bitmain announced the launch of the Antminer L9, an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) miner designed specifically for currencies that use the Scrypt algorithm, such as Litecoin and Dogecoin. The company reports that the new model has a hashing power of 16 gigahertz per second (GH/s) and an energy efficiency of 210 joules per gigahertz (J/G).
