On October 8, China submitted a request to Turkey for consultations at the WTO on measures to impose tariffs and import licenses on Turkish electric vehicles and other vehicles. Turkey has imposed an additional 40% tariff on electric vehicles and other vehicles imported from China and set import license restrictions. This discriminatory measure violates WTO rules and is a typical protectionist practice. We urge Turkey to abide by its relevant commitments at the WTO and immediately correct its wrong practices. China will take all available means to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its domestic industries.
