On September 12, the Ministry of Commerce actively promoted the negotiation and signing of the Framework Agreement on Economic Partnership for Common Development with African countries. During the summit, China has reached an agreement on the Framework Agreement with 22 African countries including Ethiopia, Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (DRC), Gabon, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, Guinea-Bissau, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritania, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Sao Tome and Principe, Uganda, Chad, and Central Africa, and signed them respectively. The framework agreement includes the preamble, objectives, principles, scope of negotiations, institutional arrangements, entry into force, amendment and termination, and future negotiations. It lays the foundation for subsequent negotiations between the two sides on specific topics such as trade and investment, and also provides long-term, stable and predictable institutional guarantees for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. China will continue to strengthen communication with willing African countries, implement the outcomes of the summit, expand independent opening up, and strive for the agreement and follow-up outcomes to benefit the enterprises and people of both sides as soon as possible.
