On August 17, according to the New York Times, U.S., Iranian and Israeli officials said Friday that they expected Iran to delay plans to retaliate against Israel for the assassination of a senior Hamas leader in Tehran to give mediators time to push for a cease-fire to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
