Gurman: iPhone 16 is a transitional model, just to keep sales stable

Aug. 11, technology reporter Mark Gurman said that Apple (AAPL. O) iPhone 16 will aim to keep sales stable, and will not introduce more innovative models until next year. A marketing focus will be Apple Intelligence, the new suite of artificial intelligence features that will work on all iPhone 16 models, but iPhone 15 Pro series will also be available. There will be a new camera control button on the right side of the phone, which will appear on at least iPhone 16 Pro series. Pro series models will be exclusive to larger screens, the Pro will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max will increase from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. Color-wise, the blue of the Pro series will be cancelled, while the rose gold that was popular a few years ago will return. The new phone will use the A18 chip, and all four models will now have 8g of memory, which is the minimum requirement to run Apple's intelligence system. Gurman commented that these are good upgrades, but may not be necessary, and he does not think the new model will bring Apple a buying spree.
