More than 100 wealthy businesspeople signed a letter asking Biden to withdraw from the election

On July 6th, according to foreign media reports, a group of top business leaders is stepping up pressure on Biden, using a joint letter to urge him to drop his re-election bid. A copy of the joint letter shows that as many as 168 signatories, including Christy Walton, Michael Novogratz and Paul Tagliabue, said that American democracy will face a major test in November. The signatories praised Biden, 81, for "saving our democracy from the most serious threat since the Civil War", however, "to ensure that this legacy is consolidated, we ask that you end your re-election bid and lead the Torch Relay to the next generation of Democratic leaders". Walton, 75, is worth about $14 billion, Novogratz, 59, the billionaire founder of Galaxy Digital, and Tagliabue, 83, the former head of the National Football League, all three have yet to donate to support Biden's re-election bid.
