France's Union of Left Forces, against Le Pen and Macron

On June 14, France's left-wing parties announced a coalition to strengthen their power in the parliamentary elections, and opinion polls showed that they could defeat Le Pen's second-largest parliamentary bloc in the second round of voting. The Greens, Socialists, Communists, and Jean-Luc Mélenchon's far-left France Unyielding Party agreed to field only one candidate in each of the 557 constituencies in the first round of voting on June 30. President Emmanuel Macron hopes to firmly control the government and the parliamentary center through early elections, and the emergence of the left-wing coalition has further weakened his hopes of victory.
