The hackers sold the personal data of Hong Kong people on the dark net and sent sample data on the forum BreachForums, claiming that the data of Hong Kong residents related to the Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and border control was leaked, including phone numbers, full names, identity cards, numbers, addresses, and that the data was leaked by the Home Affairs Department. Each 10,000 pieces of data were sold at US $1,000, and 100,000 pieces of data were sold at US $5,000, requesting transactions in virtual currency. The Home Affairs Department of Hong Kong said that there was no sign of data intrusion or theft, and there was no data leakage and it has reported to the police. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Hong Kong also said that it has not received any notification of the data leakage incident from the relevant departments.
