Tigran Gambaryan, head of financial crime compliance at Binance, collapsed during his trial on money laundering charges in a Nigerian court. Judge Emeka Nwite then agreed to take him to Nizayime Hospital in Abuja for treatment.
Mr. Gambaryan's wife, Yuki, denounced the injustice of the Nigerian authorities. Mr. Gambaryan's lawyer called the encounter a "state-sanctioned abduction." He said the Nigerian government had tightened its grip on Mr. Gambaryan because "Binance has no physical presence in Nigeria." Mr. Yuki also called for the release of Mr. Gambaryan, who is suffering from an illness that requires urgent medical attention, on humanitarian grounds.
