Edward Snowden, a whistleblower and former contractor for the National Security Agency, has issued a stern warning to bitcoin developers in the wake of an intensified crackdown on privacy-oriented software in the United States and the shutdown of its coordinated coinjoin service by Zksnacks. He stressed that time is running out to strengthen privacy and insisted that integration must be done at the protocol level. Snowden has previously praised the privacy-focused cryptocurrency zcash (ZEC).
