Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman: Trump may delay implementation of tariffs

Bill Ackman, a well-known hedge fund manager, wrote on X that despite President Trump's tough announcement that large-scale tariffs are about to be implemented, there is actually not enough time to complete substantive negotiations with trading partners due to the short time before the tariffs officially take effect. Therefore, he believes that Trump is likely to announce a delay in tariff implementation on Monday.
Mr. Ackman said the "unfair tariff regime" was a critical and urgent issue that could not be resolved in a matter of days. Suspending tariffs would not only buy the president more negotiating time, but would also give large and small companies the opportunity to adjust their supply chains. "Otherwise, great uncertainty could hit market confidence and even drag the U.S. economy into a severe recession."
