CZ shares its investment experience in X:
I stay away from fancy models. I never buy ideas. Ideas are worthless. Execution is the key. Here's something I've written before: My investment philosophy consists of three key principles:
1. Focus on the fundamentals: Forget the fancy business models. Instead, focus on the essentials: product, user growth, revenue/profit, and team strength.
2. Make a long-term bet, get in early and hold: Early adopters often reap disproportionate returns. There will be many failures along the way, but a few successes will be enough to make up for those failures. The best approach is to hold investments for the long term, because major successes like Amazon or Google develop over time. Setbacks and short-lived failures, like Terra, are all part of the journey.
3. Invest in founders with a sense of purpose: Invest in founders and teams with a vision that goes beyond profit. Great companies come from a mission-driven mindset, because founders who focus on money tend to falter after achieving moderate success. Those who are committed to greater causes create more sustainable and impactful businesses.
