Baltic Dry Index hits 23-month low

The Baltic Dry index extended losses to a 23-month low on Thursday, weighed down by weaker rates across ship types. The Baltic Dry index fell 69 points to 824, its lowest level since February 2023. The Capesize index fell 155 points to a more than five-week low of 1,081. Capesize profits fell $1,285 a day to $8,967. The Panamax index fell 39 points to 804, its lowest level since June 2020. Panamax profits fell $346 a day to $7,239. The super-handy bulk index slipped 20 points to 654, its lowest since February 2023.
