On December 8th, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was evacuated from the Syrian capital Damascus by plane early on Sunday local time. The whereabouts are currently unknown. The rebels said they had entered the capital and there were no signs of troop deployment inside. According to data from the Flightradar website, a Syrian Airlines plane took off from Damascus airport around the time the capital was occupied by rebels. The plane initially flew to the Syrian coastal area, which is the stronghold of Assad's Alawite faction, but then suddenly turned around and flew in the opposite direction for a few minutes before disappearing from the map. In addition, the Syrian army command has informed officials that the Assad regime has ended.
