On October 26th, according to the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter said that Boeing, the troubled company, is considering selling its famous NASA businesses, including the troubled Starliner program and supporting the operation of the International Space Station. The effort, part of a strategy by Boeing's new CEO Kelly Ortberg to streamline the company and contain financial losses, is still in its early stages and may not result in a deal. For decades, the company has worked closely with NASA on large-scale projects, including the Apollo astronaut mission and the creation of the space station. But in recent years, SpaceX has replaced Boeing as the most important partner. Boeing is expected to remain in charge of the Space Launch System, some people familiar with the matter said. People familiar with the matter also said that before Ortberg joined, Boeing had discussed taking over some NASA projects with Blue Origin, the space company owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos.
