Wintermute over the counter: Bitcoin call options have a relatively high premium over put options

Jake Ostrovskis, over the counter at Wintermute, wrote in a report on Monday that at a higher level, options traders drive call premium on almost all contracts with maturities longer than one day, with a relatively high premium for bitcoin calls versus puts.
"This suggests that investors are using the options market more as a tool to capture potential upside rather than as a hedge against downside risk," said David Lawant, head of research at FalconX. "For other crypto assets other than bitcoin, I think opinion is more divided. There is less consensus in the market on how these alternative cryptocurrencies might perform in different election scenarios." (Bloomberg)
