On October 10th, the monster hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida at around 9:00 am Beijing time. A Category 3 storm formed near Tampa, with strong winds strong enough to destroy houses. The National Hurricane Center had expected a storm surge of up to 15 feet in the Tampa Bay area. According to the latest report from the Hurricane Center, most of central Florida is still under continuous heavy rain and damaging winds. Milton has maximum winds of about 145 kilometers per hour and becomes a Category 1 storm as it passes over Florida and enters the Atlantic Ocean. As Milton crosses the peninsula, large swaths of the East Coast from Palm Bay to north of Jacksonville are also at risk of being submerged. The St. John's River in northeastern Florida, the longest river in the state, can rise as high as four feet above the ground.
