According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg, Musk lost a legal battle over unpaid severance pay to a former Twitter employee who was fired when Musk took over the social media platform in 2022. Mr. Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion two years ago and quickly laid off more than half of its workforce, a move that sparked complaints from more than 2,000 former employees who claimed they had not received adequate severance packages. Friday's legal victory could set a precedent for thousands of former employees who have filed similar arbitration claims. "The arbitrator awarded full severance packages to our clients," Shannon Liss-Riordan, a lawyer, said in a memo on Monday. "We are excited about this development and hope it heralds more good news to come."
