Study: artificial intelligence success in Africa depends on local language data and talent availability

According to the latest global system for mobile communications (GSMA) research report, the success of artificial intelligence (AI) in Africa will largely depend on the availability of local language data and addressing the artificial intelligence skills gap. The report urges African countries to prioritize investment in domain-specific and local language data, and also recommends participatory data collection methods to overcome barriers to artificial intelligence development.
