Gold Ten Futures, June 26th, according to foreign media reports, the International Copper Research Group (ICSG) released monthly data show that in the first four months of 2024, global mine copper production increased by about 4.9% year-on-year, of which copper concentrate production increased by 2.9%, and wet smelting electrolytic copper (SX-EW) production increased by 13.5%. < br > 1. Global mine copper production growth in the first four months of 2024 benefited from the recovery from production constrained levels in 2023 (mainly in Chile, Indonesia, Peru and the United States), as well as additional production from mine projects (Democratic Republic of Congo). < br > 2. In the first 4 months of this year, copper production from mines in Chile increased by 2%, of which copper concentrate production increased by 3.2% and electrolytic copper production decreased by 1.6%; mine copper production in the Democratic Republic of Congo increased by about 24%, mainly due to the expansion of the Kamoa mine and the new/expanded capacity of other small mines. Peru mine copper production increased by 1%, recovering from production cuts in early 2023, when many mine operations were affected by local community protest actions. Production in Indonesia is estimated to have increased by 35% year-on-year, recovering from operational restrictions at the Grasberg copper mine in Quarter 1 in 2023 due to heavy rainfall and landslides, as well as at the Batu Hija mine. U.S. production is estimated to have increased by 9%, mainly due to recovery from production cuts in Quarter 1 last year. There is currently no copper production in Panama, as production at the Cobre copper mine was suspended in November 2023.
