Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin's proposal for EIP-7702, which allows externally owned accounts (EOAs) to temporarily act as smart contracts in a single transaction, enhancing flexibility and security, has been included in the next upgrade of "Pectra", but the developers have yet to finalize the details. At the recent core developer meeting, the integration challenges and latent risks of EIP-7702 were discussed. Developers agreed to address these issues before the next meeting on July 4th to ensure its timely implementation into the development testnet. The next major upgrade of Ethereum is expected to go live between November 2024 and early 2025.
