The Axie Infinity community has launched a new proposal to vote on a hard fork to upgrade Axie & Land smart contracts

According to the governance page, the Axie Infinity community has launched a new proposal to upgrade Axie & Land smart contracts through a hard fork.
The related proposal states that a feature frequently requested by Axie asset holders is a more secure way to delegate Axie assets in order to minimize the risk to the asset owner. REP-015 was developed following a review of the crypto community's various smart contract approaches. However, implementing REP-015 required a fundamental upgrade to Axie smart contracts. The Axie community convened a committee of technical experts (including Owl of Moistness, Maxbrand99, freak, Duke, and dw) to analyze all available methods to upgrade the contract so that these features can be delivered to users in a timely manner while minimizing risk. The committee's unanimous recommendation was to hard fork Ronin and directly modify the contract. This action will include two upgrades: REP-015 (to enable more powerful delegation capabilities) and ERC1967 (to eliminate the need for future hard forks when upgrading smart contracts in the future).
