On May 18, Omer, the founder of LayerZero witch detection partner Chaos Labs, posted on social media the process of LayerZero monitoring witches. Omer said that the principle of detection is to ensure that real users are not harmed, maximize precision, and screen out the addresses of airdrop hunters "scientists" who build large numbers.
According to the data given by omer, the total number of LayerZero users is 4.82 million, the number of addresses with unique sources of funds is 2.18 million, and witches account for 14.8%.
In the detection, Chaos Labs will retrospectively detect the funding source of the address, focusing on CEX/DEX and bridges, marking the first native token transfer from each account as a funding transaction. For example, having the same funding source for 24 hours, addresses with roughly the same interaction behavior thereafter will be flagged as witches.
