On April 26th, Paradigm published an article saying that it is recommended that the EVM community adopt the amount of gas per second (gaspersecond) as a network performance measure, while combining other dimensions of gas fee pricing to create a comprehensive performance standard. Blockchain network performance is usually measured by the number of transactions per second metric, but for Ethereum and other EVM blockchains, a more detailed and accurate measure should be the amount of gas per second, which reflects the amount of computing work the network can handle per second. Gas is a unit that measures the amount of computing work required to execute transactions or smart contracts, and also helps to compare the performance of different EVM-compatible chains.
The current EVM network is calculated in terms of gas per second. The most powerful network is opBNB (100mgs/s), and the worst performance is the Ethereum mainnet (1.25mgs/s). Reth, created by Paradigm, has reached 100-200mgas/s during real-time synchronization, and its short-term goal is to reach 1gigagas/s (1 billion per second).
