Changpeng Zhao, the founder and former chief executive of Binance, who is expected to be sentenced on April 30 following a settlement between Mr. Zhao and the US, apologised for his "wrong decision" and accepted "full responsibility" for his actions in a letter to the judge overseeing the case on Tuesday. In addition to Zhao's letter, there were 161 other letters of support seeking clemency from family, friends and others. Former U.S. ambassadors to China Max S. Baucus, Professor Jeremy R. Cooperstock, McGill University Professor, Associate Professor Gu Ronghui, Columbia University Professor, Morgan Stanley Managing Director Sean Yang, and family members in the United Arab Emirates also sent letters of support.
