On January 7th, the China Earthquake Network determined that at 9:5 on January 7th, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Tingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet (28.50 degrees north latitude, 87.45 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. Preliminary statistics show that the earthquake has caused casualties. The State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters Office and the Emergency Management Department launched the earthquake's third-level emergency response and dispatched a working group to the earthquake area to guide the earthquake relief work. Local fire rescue teams have dispatched more than 1,500 people to investigate and search and rescue near the epicenter.
