Codelco in Chile steps up copper production to meet 2024 targets

Codelco, Chile's state-owned copper company, is stepping up efforts to boost copper production in the hope of reaching its 2024 production target, according to foreign media reports. As the world's largest copper producer, Codelco is struggling to recover from its lowest output in 25 years and hopes to reach about 1.331 million tons of copper by the end of this year, up 0.5% from last year and at the lower end of its target range. Official data will be released in the next few days. Codelco's official annual target is 1.325 million to 1.352 million tons of copper, with the upper limit lowered from 1.39 million tons in July.
