Canada's provincial governors have called for an urgent meeting with the prime minister to discuss Canada-US relations

On November 26th, local time on the 25th, Canadian provincial governors asked Prime Minister Trudeau to hold an emergency meeting to discuss Canada-US relations before US President-elect Trump takes office. Ontario Premier Ford, chairperson of the Federal Council of Canada (the Association of Governors), sent a letter to Trudeau on the 25th saying that provincial governors want to be part of the Canadian team and participate in various matters such as trade, border security, energy, defense and cross-border supply chains. Ford also said that provincial governors want to know the federal government's attitude on the review of the 2026 "United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement" (referred to as the USMCA).
