President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he had nominated Chris Wright to be the next Secretary of Energy and said he would create a National Energy Commission to boost U.S. energy production. Wright is the chief executive of oil-field services company Liberty Energy and has no previous experience working in Washington. "Wright has been a leading technologist and entrepreneur in the energy sector, having worked in nuclear, solar, geothermal, oil and gas," Trump wrote in a statement that day. "Most importantly, he was one of the pioneers who helped launch the shale oil revolution in the United States, driving American energy independence and transforming the global energy market and geopolitical landscape."
